Any warm camouflage or hunting gear will work. Natural colours blend best in the African bush and comfortable hiking shoes are very important. Remember that hunting takes place during the winter season and it can get cold enough for a jacket in the mornings.
Tanzanian law requires a rifle with a caliber of 375 mm or greater for hunting dangerous game such as hippo, lion, buffalo and elephant. South Africa has no regulations in this regard. We will assist you with the import and export procedures.
Hunters must be in possession of a valid CITES permit for certain species covered by the CITES Convention. These include elephant, leopard and crocodile. Please contact your local wildlife department for import permits. Without these permits the export permit will not be issued.
The Governments of Tanzania and South Africa allow any amount of foreign currency to be imported and subsequently exported, provided that it is declared upon arrival. Travelers’ checks are not recommended for Tanzania. In Tanzania, credit cards are only accepted at major hotels.
A valid international certificate of vaccination for Yellow fever is required when entering Tanzania. A malarial preventative will be necessary for travelling in Tanzania. In all cases, we advise you to consult your personal physician or community health service concerning other immunizations which are recommended to travel to Tanzania and other parts of Eastern and Southern Africa.
